FAQs

How many people can I bring?

As we are a very small business and team, I am currently comfortable working on a personal one-to-one basis, with space to accommodate and cater for one person at a time. However, if you feel more comfortable bringing a partner, carer or friend, we can discuss this option together and try our best to accommodate the both of you. Unfortunately I cannot host full bands for long stays just yet! I can also host small ensembles for day time sessions (no overnight accom).

Will the house be empty when I come?

As this is my family home, my parents and pets still live in this space alongside me. They both have full time roles and will often be out of the house or working. They also play a huge role in the upkeep of the studio so they are needed around most of the time! My dog, three cats and rabbit are also hopping about during sessions so let me know of any allergies in advance!

Do you mix and master?

I do and I am more than competent to mix smaller, acoustic projects. If you would like a queer female engineer who specialises in mixing and mastering, Beth Robb is your woman! Ask me a little more about working with Beth in our chat.

Which DAWs do you use?

I am well-versed in Logic and Cubase. Whichever DAW is most compatible and suitable to your music, we shall use that one!

What gear do you have? Can I bring any of my gear?

As I am a small, cosy, DIY studio, my gear list is rather humble and consists of the following:

DAWs: Logic Pro X and Cubase 13

Software: Valhalla Vintage Verb, Valhalla Room, all Fabfilter Pro plug-ins, BBC Symphony Orchestra VST

Hardware: Subzero P10 microphone (Neumann U87 dupe), Aston Stealth microphone, AKG P170 stereo mic pair, Focusrite Scarlett 18i8, Edifier desktop speakers, KRK monitor speakers, Koorui monitor, DT 9990 Pro headphones, 2 OneOdio heapdhones

Instruments: Fender CN-140SCE electroacoustic guitar, Yamaha Clavinova electric piano/midi controller, ukelele

Feel free to bring your own gear - synths, instruments

Do you offer advice for labels to contact, social media growth, selling music etc.?

I have plenty of industry contacts in music management, social media, and labels will be happy to put you in contact with on a case-by-case basis. I personally do not give the advice nor have the capacity to manage you as an artist but am happy to send you in the right direction(s)!

I’m not sure this is within my budget…do you offer package deals?

Investing in your music is a big step - I get it! I am charging a fraction of today’s average studio hire rates as I would like music recording to be accessible. However I understand this can still be a big investment. Book in a call with me and we will have a very open and honest discussion and see how we can make this work for you! Long story short, yes, I do offer package deals - again on a case-by-case basis!

So do I stay in the cottage?

We have recently partnered with Puttocks Farm, a BnB just a walk away from the studio and this is where you shall be staying if you’d like to book a longer session. Puttocks provides large yet cosy rooms, all fit with their own en-suite. They also provide a lovely cooked breakfast alongside smaller breakfast options too, and cater for all dietary requirements!
